2022.01.22 21:24 strontiummuffin The "ultimate" challenge rewards should be replaced with non unique items

Halo infinite will be the first ever halo game you can't "100%" you miss one opportunity to get a unique cosmetic and you can never get it ever again. Its not that it's hard. It's just you wherent playing the game at that time.
Some people play games to be completuonists, they had the exact same criticism to battle passes that 343 fixed with there game, but they went ahead and put fomo in the ultimate reward anyway, what gives?
Why not have the ultimate reward be something like 100 credits instead like halo reach? Still really valuable, but if you miss an item it's not like you can never get it ever again.

2022.01.22 21:24 10thfloorclown Heatwave – The Groove Line (live) – Revolver August 12, 1978

Here’s a classic that I found in my video archive. Heatwave performing “Groove Line” on a TV show based in Birmingham, England called “Revolver”. The show was hosted by comedian Peter Cook, but sadly it only lasted one season. Typically it featured the latest punk and new wave bands in 1978, but as you’ll see in this video, disco was alive and well in England. I don’t think this has ever appeared on YouTube before. https://youtu.be/XPHP0aup61s

2022.01.22 21:24 KillerBebe How did you find out?

My story is simple and short. I GF at the time (19-F) was one of those (you know then) that liked to take a pic of the meal they were eating and post a comment about it. She told me she worked late on a Sunday and then told me she went to a diner for a bite to eat. She sent a picture of the bowl of soup (chicken rice) in front of her, and there was his reflection in the bowl of soup because he was sitting directly across from her.
Let me and the others reading this if you have a better story of the cheaters stupidity.

I would say mine is about $45-48K. One time it was like a few hundred from $50K. Not too bad but when it comes to nighttime, it can be hell on earth. Especially with an understaffed store with some new peeps.

100 Words - "Pace"
A man sits in his office, closely examining papers, when a knock sounds from his door.
“Come in,” he says without looking up. He hears the door slowly creak open as someone walks inside.
“So, boss,” the person said, voice uneven as they spoke. “Have you looked over my proposal?”
“I have,” I said as I picked up papers, straightening them before setting them on my desk.
“Well? What did you think?”
I folded my hands and looked to them. “I think you’ll get it next time.”
Their face fell. “But why!?”
“Too ambitious. Pace yourself. Walk before you run.”

"Seasons" - Chapter 2
Massive metal scaffolding arcing from the walls to the ceiling held up the earth above. Far below, in the center of a dirt field, workers were clearing and flattening out a field, mostly comprised of dirt and grass, but with a winding “river” splitting it in two. The workers shoveled down mounds and flattened anything from small divots to man-sized holes. From far away, they could be heard yelling things to each other, though what exactly was unintelligible.
Concrete surrounded the field, stretching from its rectangular borders to the rounded metal walls of the battlefield. Rows of metal bleachers that would never be fully filled sat past the walls, among which a sparse few people sat.
Cole sat high up along the bleachers, noting how cold and uncomfortable the seating was as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Once he found himself comfortable, he leaned over, resting his head on his arms as he watched the people down below work.
Moments passed, and slowly the field was beginning to smooth out. A metal clanking sounded from far down along the bleachers, though Cole didn’t pay any mind. Slowly, it got closer, until a familiar voice reached him.
“Hey, it’s you!”
Looking over, Cole looked up to see the dark-skinned man he had met no more than a week prior. Smiling slightly, he waved. “Hey… Tai, was it?”
Walking over, the man laughed. “Well, I prefer Tyler, but yeah. You were… Cane?”
Cole chuckled. “It’s Cole.”
“Ah, right, sorry,” he said as he reached Cole. Rubbing the back of his head, he took a seat next to Cole. “...I thought you said I wouldn’t see you here?”
Cole sighed. “Plans changed.”
Tyler raised an eyebrow. “How?”
“I’d rather not get into it,” Cole replied very quickly, looking away. “Anyways, what are you doing here? There’s no way you were able to get a reservation less than a week after arriving.”
“Yeah, I’m here for a frien—er, acquaintance,” he quickly corrected himself. “So, what is it? You get a good offer to be a gym trainer?”
Cole looked back out over the field, noting the field was almost fully cleared, save for a clear tunnel that was filled with water on either side of the river. “No, honestly they couldn’t pay me enough. I’m here for an acquaintance too.”
“Oh yeah? Cool!” He paused for a second. “Wait, are they after this next person, or…”
“They’re the next person.”
Tyler stopped talking for a moment. Looking to him, his eyes were wide.
“You okay?”
“You know Sydney?”
“Wow, talk about coincidence!” he exclaimed as he laughed. His laugh was hardy, and very loud. “How do you know her?”
“We were childhood friends, she moved here when I was five,” Cole said as he looked back to the battlefield. Surprisingly, the hole before was already removed, and the workers were quickly vacating the arena. “I think they’re starting soon.”
“Oh, right.” was all he said, and not a moment later, the announcer could be heard echoing throughout the room.
“Hello all, and welcome to the gym of Avent! Preparations have been completed, and we will shortly enter the battle between challenger Sydney Mordew and Dewey Aguart!” As the announcer said their names, two trainers entered the arena from opposite sides. Cole could immediately pick out gym leader Dewey by his bright-blue attire, and looking to the other end, he could see Sydney wearing a leather jacket.
A few moments passed in relative silence, a few sparse cheers coming from the people around the room as the two trainers made their way to the field. Once they reached their sides, the announcer continued.
“This will be a three-on-three knockout match. Each trainer will send one party member onto the field, and each pokémon will fight until it has been decided they are unable to battle, or until either trainer concedes. Both trainers are allowed one item and one substitution. The first trainer to knock out all of their opponent’s pokémon wins. Now, with that said, trainers! Choose your pokémon!”
Cole saw the two move their hands to their belts, picking their first partners wisely. Tentatively, they both picked one, and held it out in front of htem.
“Let the match… begin!”

Closing Thoughts:
100 words was necessary to explain to myself that it's okay I'm not doing too hot with my extended stories right now. Disheartening, but I'll be able to get to those with time.
Felt it was about time I continued with the first story I posted on this sub, and I'm feeling much better about it again.
With all this said, I want to emphasize something really quickly. I'm having a blast writing, and this exposure is definitely going to help me out with my skills. With that said, I can't catch all of my flaws, so I'd really appreciate feedback if any of you notice anything! I want to get better, and that's best done with feedback from others.
So, as I've said many times before already this year: If you've found anything I absolutely suck at, please, fire away! This year's all about improvement, and every little bit helps!

2022.01.22 21:24 NewToTheCold General gay dating tips?

I'm a bit newer to dating, recently moved to a new place, and have been starting to try new things. Any tips or unspoken rules that would be good to know?
A few tips I've gotten:
- Dinner is too formal for a first date.
- Don't set things up too far in advance/days later (keep to 1-3 days)
- Honesty hurts, but is better than the runaround/ghosting
- No answer is an answer and rejection happens a lot

2022.01.22 21:24 Skito0630_ What is the best possible desktop gaming setup i can buy with $500?

I am currently using a computer from 2007, can only run like 12 games I will need to include a mouse and keyboard and mouse into the count, and either i can use a chunk of my budget for a monitor or use my tv. I am looking for the fastest, most powerful desktop computer i can buy with $500 and i will need to get a keyboard and mouse. Can anyone give me advice? I am new to these newer computers. Also, I know prebuilt computers are considered bad but it is too expensive to buy individual parts and pay for shipping and too risky to not have warranty on them, so preferably a prebuilt computer.
