Don’t like job, don’t like team - what should i do? [I’m in industry - can’t switch teams]
2022.01.22 21:30 scorpiochik Don’t like job, don’t like team - what should i do? [I’m in industry - can’t switch teams]
I’m a tax analyst at a fortune 500 company. The team I am on has had 80% turnover since I started a year ago, and I’ve never liked this job. It’s very demanding while also simultaneously being very cut throat. My team members are more concerned with being right and looking good vs. being helpful, engaging, and supportive, so teaming is very poor.
So I’m asking for those who also don’t like their job or their team members, how do you cope at work?

2022.01.22 21:30 PlasticCorrosion We gave it all to you
At some point, we've all given you all. We believed, for a short, intoxicating moment, that you were the space game we had been looking for. We spent hundreds of hours trying to make you.
Then the day comes, when all that space glitter can't hide how devastatingly pointless and barren it all is. And we give up, we can't pretend any longer.
You failed us so miserably, a stunning display of incompetence.
I fucking hate this game.

2022.01.22 21:30 CreativeJackfruit879 Advice on out of state entry level jobs
I currently have 1.5 years of college left before my degree. This summer I plan to do a data science internship, and possibly continue that until before I graduate in mid '23. In this timeframe that I have, when do you guys think is the optimal time to apply for an entry level career out of state?
I live in the middle of nowhere and this is important to me. Looking to go to a larger city (population 500-k - 1m). If I apply right after the summer, I don't think any company will be looking to hire me a year before I graduate. But my goal is to have this entry level job ready for when I graduate.
I understand that it's harder to get jobs out of state, but I'll make it clear at the top of my resume I'm willing to relocate, however, relocating this early would mean I'd need relocation assistance from my company, and I'm not sure how many offer that in data science related careers.

2022.01.22 21:30 ammoprofit Deck: Super Economy (Nightmare)
The Goal Acquire, consolidate, and consume resources judiciously so you and your teammates can purchase The Upgrades and resources as necessary.
It is reasonable to generate 6,000+ Copper per map. It is reasonable for players to have 8+ slot Inventories.
The Choices Money Grubbers
- Share the Wealth
- Money Grubbers
- Cross Trainers
- Energy Bar
- Copper Scavenger
- Offensive Scavenger
- Fresh Bandage
- Saferoom Recovery
- Compound Interest
- Bounty Hunter
- Grenade Pouch
- Fanny Pack
- Belt Clip
- Mandatory PT
- Cold Brew Coffee
is an easy first pick. Once the team picks up 25 stacks of copper, you're getting an extra +75c/stack, and you've netted an additional 975c along the way. On the early levels, which are generally easier, you should be maxing the copper, as long as you don't have a Speed Run timer. If you have a Speed Run timer, check to see which is worth more - Copper for each player of the team or the team's total Money Grubbers.
IE, if you get 500c/player for completing a speed run, that's 2,000c for all 4 players completing the map. But if you have 2 Money Grubbers and hit 26 copper stacks, that's 1050 additional copper for 2 players for 2050. Share the Wealth
is second pick to provide you the option
to purchase a Tool Kit on first map no matter which Cleaner you pick, and allows Karlee to purchase a second Kit solo. You don't have to pick this card on your first pick, but I recommend it.
Using Tool Kits on Safe Rooms nets you at least +$50 because a Tool Kit costs $350 and a Cabinet Heal costs $400. Generally, you will also get some combination of 10-12 items: A total of 4 Quick, Support, and/or Offensive Items, a Weapons Case (2 items), 2-3 stacks of Copper (without Scavenger), an Inventory Card (purchasable or freebie), an Ammo Stash, and sometimes a Weapons Parts. Sometimes it throws in loose Offensive Items, too.
Any time you can get more Grenades, you can kill the Mutations quickly, distract the Common, and/or clear a Boss more efficiently. Cross Trainers
provide a wonderful combination of Stamina, Stamina Regeneration, Move Speed, and Health. Early game, it's enough to evade most threats or get yourself to safety as necessary. The less damage you take, the more money you can spend on Upgrades. Energy Bar
falls under the same category. Stamina Regeneration allows you to sprint faster and throw an occasional Bash.
Both Cross Trainers and Energy Bar are mediocre in stats in their own right, but I already use Sprint Jump and ramp bounces to preserve and increase velocity respectively. Don't need to speed run. Just need to evade.
The additional health provide the added benefit of offsetting one Team Effect card with -10% Health, if you get the opportunity to purchase. Copper Scavenger
is 5th pick. You always get your starting card, then you get a choice from the next five cards (Picks 2-6), and Copper Scavenger pays off more the quicker you can get it. Offensive Scavenger
is my 6th pick for the same reason as Copper Scavenger. If you have multiple Offensive Scavengers on the team, your weapons quality will improve very quickly. Fresh Bandage
and Saferoom Recovery
should be available on the second map. If the team is taking heavy Trauma, Saferoom Recovery is an immediate pick, followed by a more conservative playstyle. If you are taking the Trauma Damage and the team is not, then you prioritize Fresh Bandage. Both cards are slightly worse than a Trauma Heal from a Medkit, but it pays for itself quickly. Compound Interest
is pretty late at Deck Slot 9. You'll be at least three maps in unless you purchase a card in your deck or use a Continue. By that time, you and the team should have found your rhythm and can pool Copper accordingly. You don't have to pool your Copper at the end. Any rest stop along the way helps. Bounty Hunter
nets you 300 copper per map. It's late enough to be sure it's worthwhile, but early enough to generate significant Copper. Also, at 300 copper per map, Bounty Hunter doesn't really provide all that much Copper compared to it's brethren.
I could see swapping out Bounty Hunter for something else. Maybe even to move up the Inventory Slot cards (next items) and take something else at Deck Slots 13-15. Grenade Pouch
, Fanny Pack
, and Belt Clip
provide additional Inventory Slots as necessary. Personally, I think Belt Clip should probably be first right now because Barbed Wire is that
incredibly powerful, but Grenades kill Mutations, and Barbed Wire doesn't. I don't do much damage, but I can wax Commons with any gun at all, so being able to hold one more nade for the Grenadier that kills Mutations and Bosses is pretty important. Mandatory PT
provdies endurance for the team. Cold Brew Coffee
provides a well-rounded compliment to any number of weaknesses. They're both catch-all, filler, generic, "all good" cards. I haven't found any cards I wanted more. Feel free to tweak to your style. Burn Cards
Coordinate with the team and use them judiciously. A well-timed Hired Gun will allow you to quickly snowball into the late game several maps early. If you like to spend Hired Gun cards, consider moving Compound Interest higher in your pick order. Especially if you're playing an Act with a higher starting Ridden count. (IE, Compare Act 1-1 to Act 2-1. There are way more ridden in A Call To Arms than Resurgence.) Notes
You Trauma heals, but you don't have any Damage or Trauma Resistance at all. You don't have much Stamina, and you have even less without a Holly. You don't do much damage so headshots and weakspots are your friends. If nothing else, focus on picking off the stragglers that get close to your teammates, and focus on hunting and spotting Mutations as quickly as possible.
You don't have any Team Effects with Damage Debuffs or Ammo Debuffs. Unless the team requires it and another player can offset the loss, I wouldn't purchase them in map. -10% damage is a pretty big hit. Even with purple gear, you can shoot 6+ sniper shots to kill an Armored Crusher or Tallboy, and sometimes you get the 4x Mutation Hordes. That -10% damage can be the difference between needed an extra shot per Mutation or not, and that can be the difference in an extra heal or even team wipe.
That being said, if you have a Walker, Jim, or Hoffman who has the damage, your damage loss hurts the team a lot less than their damage loss. You take one for the team and eat that debuff so they don't get it.
The deck is built to allow you to purchase one Team Effect with a -10% Health, even if no one else on the team can afford the health debuff. How to Spend Money You need to know every map's Tool Kit requirements
. Every map has a Stash Room. About half the maps have a Mini Gun. Devil's Return has a drawbridge, Trailer Trashed has a gate, and Farther Afield has the combine. Tool Kits usually pay for themselves. The fewer you purchase, the more money you have for upgrades.
You don't buy guns or parts unless you have extra money. That's extra after saving ~1,000 copper in the Safe Room for in-map card purchases. Being able to purchase two of a good inventory card is usually better than buying weapons or parts.
Generally speaking, you don't max out your inventory in the Safe Room. Make sure you have room to pick up an extra of each item in your stacks.
An empty slot is fine and allows you to flex. You can double up on an item's stacks or pick up something you don't have. If you're running Mugger, always make sure someone has a Tool Kit and someone else has room for 2 Razor Wires. Not one, but two Razor Wires. TWO. Repeating that a third time, because Mugger procs a lot when the hordes are max size.
Beyond that, get upgrades whenever possible. If you need to dip below the 1,000 copper to do so, the sure bet is usually worth it.
Also, it's a team game. If they're giving you money for Compound Interest, the absolute very least you can do is talk to your teammates and find out what they value and why. The Playstyle
This deck has a higher play style. It is not a run-n-gun.
You are awareness. Map awareness, item awareness, ammo awareness, Corruption Card awareness... You are the eyes that are everywhere so your teammates can focus on their roles first and foremost.
You're going to miss things, and your teammates, hopefully, will help you catch what you missed.
This may not be the deck or play style for you.
- You are expected to know how many Tool Kits you need for each map. Bookmark it. Sticky it. Print it. Whatever. You don't have to have them, but be informed.
- You are expected to read the Corruption Cards and acquire resources to counter the threats. Flashbangs and Frags for Bosses and Mutation Hordes. Pipes and Firecrackers for Common Hordes.
- Players should stack items of type to maximize inventory space. It's simple, but I'm saying it.
- Only purchase what you need. Bad guns still kill the Ridden. Guns with bad parts still kill the Ridden. You will find guns and parts as you progress.
- Do not purchase Inventory Quality for an Inventory at Purple. The Slot's qUality will roll over into Grey. That's a 4,500 copper mistake!
- Try to save ~1,000 copper for in-map purchasable cards and Health Cabinets.
- Doesn't matter what the item is, if it's spare, and you have an empty slot, pick it up. It's a resource you might need to purchase later and you just saved the team some copper.
- You are expected to coordinate with your teammates.
- You are expected to pick up loose ammo and preemptively provide ammo in holdout zones. You are also expected to pick up your ammo type so you don't have to bug your teammates in a pinch.
- Let your teammates know your needs early and often. "I need a muzzle attachment. I'm going to need SMG ammo. I've got nades for you and [these # health items] for Doc." Whatever it is, let them know your needs before it's a problem, and let them know you can address their needs before they even realize it's a problem.
- You are expected to pay attention to the timers and coordinate your events to occur at the same time OR coordinate so your events are offset from map timers. Maybe you guys are wounded and can't handle four Armored Tallboys and an event Horde with Fire Common. Play smart!
- Offset your ammo types. If Shotgun is the open type, pick up a shotgun rifle. A bad weapon will still kill the Ridden. A grey weapon with bad parts will still kill Ridden. (Srsly. I've run Nightmare with only grey weapons to prove it.)
- You don't take point. You're not rear guard. You help clean up what slips through the cracks. You time to reloads to offset with your teammates so the team is never without a gun. Cover the LMG. Be prepared to move up when the Head Poppers knock the Melee Tank back. If you're in the back, you're standing. If you're up front, you're crouched.
- Friendly Fire is bad. A bad weapon will still do more damage to a player than most Common.
- Since you are watching, pay close attention to the timers. You can ignore the Speed Run timers (you can save 2k in copper by playing smart and not taking damage), but you cannot ignore the Horde Timers. Give your team a one minute warning (for the 2+ minute timers), and 30 second and 15 second warnings for the 1 minute timers.
- You should know when to make sacrificial plays like running ahead to trade a mineshaft for a revive and when to fall and be a turret. Everything is a resource. Even your extra lives, and you are the most expendable player.
And, finally, you are expected to complete the run. When a player leaves, the team will lose any upgrades the player purchased. If you have been purchasing the upgrades and leave, you are hardcore screwing
your team over.
Life happens, emergencies happen, I get it.
If you might have to leave because you have real life obligations, please have someone else purchase the upgrades. The Deck Pairs Especially Well With...
- Melee with Mugger and Vanguard. Holly shit (pun intended) is Mugger amazing. It's also free Razor Wire (200c per) and free Ammo. Vanguard is Saferoom Recovery in the field. Also, Holly is way funnier and infinitely less annoying the Evangelo.
- Grenadier. If you're going to carry nades for anyone other than yourself, carry them for someone specced to nade damage. I prefer a Grenadier over a DPS, but do whatever works for you.
- Medic. It's a no brainer. You need one. A medic in the end game is a win game... usually... Sometimes it happens and you all go down but the medic. If you're gonna all go down but the medic, go down close enough to hold hands so you can all cover the medic together!
As always, when you run the deck, it's yours. Build it to your needs.

2022.01.22 21:29 PracticalParking8628 Military Tax Help
Hello everyone. I'm having some issues understanding (for tax purposes) my home of record for the military. I lived in NYC when I enlisted, and on my OMPF the uploaded file with my "Report of Home of Record" states NY and has all my NY information. My LES has said FL though since I joined, I don't remember any of the paperwork I filled out when I first joined to get FL on my LES but it's been there for a couple years. I lived in Virginia and California last year, and I just honestly don't know what to file right now. I appreciate the help.
